LA6TPA - Antenna Page

Here is a short overview over my experimental & operational antennas.
I am living in a residential area with a relatively small yard. And there are limitations to which antenna systems I can put up.  But radio amateurs are used to compromises and small antennas can work wonders to.

Small transmitting loop for 1,8 - 6 MHz

Because of steady increasing noise levels from my neighborhood. With S-meter readings seldom under S9 on the lower HF bands I have build this small loop. The loop consists of three turns of PVC insulated 15mm copper tubing in 1 meter diameter and there is a 500pF variable capacitor to tune the circuit into resonance. Noise/signal levels increased considerably compared to my other antennas and it is now possible for me to read weak stations on the lower bands. It is also possible to transmit with the antenna, but no more than 5-10 watts do to the capacitor sparking around 6-7kV.

Capacitor is hidden under the upper plastic bucket. The thin blue wire loop is the coupling loop feeding the feed line.

Vertical rod

Bush vertical

Picture over shows my 9 meter tall vertical.

Antenna is planted out of the way in the middle of a bush tree. Antenna has an automatic ATU in the feed point and tunes from 160 to 10 meters. In the pictures left edge you can see a thin wire and a loading coil. This wire is a part of my coil loaded dipole for 80 and 20 meter, hanging as an inverted V. The dipole is mainly used for local and regional rag chew on 80 meters band.

4 Elemant Yagi for 2 meter

Here is my home made 4 element yagi for local repeater work. Antenna is based on one of DK7ZB´s designs.

50MHz-4-Element-28-Ohm-Yagi with 2,20m-Boom

Here is my new 4-element yagi for six. This antenna is also a DK7ZB disign. For a detailed description of this antenna I recommend a visit to the authors site.http://www.mydarc.de/DK7ZB/6m/428-breit.htm Anyway, here is the antenna essentials: Boom is made of 20x20mm square aluminium tube and passive elements are made of 10mm aluminium tube. Radiator is a mix of 16mm and 12mm.
