Fantastic that you read this part. I would just like to tell you
about my thinking and what I want with my cattery. As even though
it is a hobby, it is still very serious and there are many things to
consider in this line of ... hobby....:) And as in all good
businesses there needs to be an organised thought behind it.
Purrferina's has as a goal to breed strong and healthy Birmans for a
life inside happy homes like ours. They are family members, we keep
them around us 24 hr a day and the kids love them. My children
grew up with cats and have the outmost respect for them. I would not
allow any animal to live with us if not. Kids are born sadist, they need
to learn empathy. Lucky my kids have.
They are our pets, and they
are maybe a little spoiled. But who can ever resist a face like that?? We
let them run free around the house, and we have a connecting cat flap to
an enclosed area in the back yard where they can enjoy fresh air. But I
can not let them free as there is way to much danger around. Not
only cars, but Birmans are so loving and naive they trust everybody.
Therefore things can go very wrong...
So what do I want in my
Barman's?
I aim for : strong, healthy cats. Good tempered and
well balanced. I also put a strong emphasis that there is very little
inbreeding in my cats and therefore I like to import from other
country's.
New blood lines and right health are crucial. I find genetics
fascinating.
I do not like to say so, but I also like my cats to have strong bones, a
good roman nose, clear blue eye colour and fantastic fur... You can not
ever be guarantied these things when you look at the kitten so I go by
the pedigree. And last but not least: Shows!!! I LOVE SHOWS. I find
it social and exiting,... maybe I will see you there?
