Comments: The Love Affair's debut album was released in December 1968, and included their three hit singles "Everlasting Love" (#1), "Rainbow Valley" (#5) and "A Day Without Love" (#6). The Poland LP came with a different sleeve (showing the Gus Eadon line-up) - and three of the songs are missing (Once Upon A Season, Rainbow Valley and Tale Of Two Bitters). In 2006, Repertoire Records released a remastered edition with 8 bonus tracks: Gone Are The Songs Of Yesterday / Some Like Me / I'm Happy / One Road / Let Me Know / Bringing On Back The Good Times / Another Day / Un Giorno Senza Amore. The CD comes housed in a digipak sleeve with a 16 page illustrated booklet written by Chris Welch!

Comments: The second Love Affair album was credited simply to L.A. The band had recorded a progressive album, inspired by Jethro Tull, and felt that a name change was necessary in order to attract more mature audiences.

Comments: Technically this is a compilation, but most of the songs are either previously unreleased (marked with an asterisk *) or first time on CD - so I like to think of this as a new Love Affair studio album! "It's A Love Affair" is the newest track, this was recorded in 1999 - the others date from 1966 to 1969. The previously released tracks are from the original CBS albums, except "She Smiled Sweetly" and "Satisfaction Guaranteed" which was the bands debut single for Decca, and "Brings My Whole World Tumbling Down" which was the (non-LP) B-side to the "Speak Of Peace" single. NOTE! The first 5000 copies of this CD includes a CD-Rom video of "It's A Love Affair"!

Comments: Issued only in Germany and Holland, this double album contains the full "Everlasting Love Affair" LP, plus all their non-album CBS singles. Two of the tracks (*) were recorded after Steve Ellis split, and have August Eadon on lead vocals.

Comments: The British label Scoop 33 (a Pickwick subsidiary) released a series of 33rpm 7" EPs in the mid-80s, including this one by Love Affair. Since this release was also available on cassette, I have decided to list it here, rather than in the singles section.

Comments: German specialist label, Bear Tracks, issued this lovingly assembled compilation in 1989. It has an interesting mix of album and non-album tracks: (+) "Everlasting Love Affair", (*) "New Day" LP, (**) non-LP singles.

Comments: "Everlasting Hits" was a CD only re-issue from 1992 of the "Everlasting Love Affair" album [the 1968 LP] with "One Road" added as bonus track (this was the bands first 1969 single). The Holland CD came with a different sleeve design - and a 1991 release date. This edition was also available in Australia.

Comments: Rock-In-Beat Records sold promo copies of this collection by mail order, but to my knowledge it was not generally available. It has a nice selection of tracks; both CBS albums are included, plus 14 bonus tracks (a mix of CBS, EMI and Creole single B-sides - spanning the years 1968 - 1977). Note that all tracks have been digitally remastered from vinyl. UPDATE 26 March 2003: a remastered edition with different track listing is now available - More info!

Comments: Sony/Columbia have finally come up with a decent "greatest hits" type collection of their own. Steve Ellis helped compile this collection, which is a mix of album and single tracks from the bands heyday (1968-1969). What's more - three new Steve Ellis recordings have been added as bonus tracks (marked *) - they are listed as "taken from the forthcoming album".

At best, this release can be classified as a semi-official release - the album is only available from the label by mailorder, sold as a 'promo copy'.

Comments: why 'Complete Collection Vol. 3' is subtitled '1971 - 1994' beats me..... when four songs were actually recorded around 1966 and "It's A Love Affair" was recorded in 2000! And why have two Steve Ellis solo recordings from 2001 been included?
