Primosten lies 6 km north of Rogoznica, and is one of the most scenic places along the Adriatic coast. Once an island, the ancient city center today sits on a peninsula which stretches out toward the sea. Five hundred years ago the citizens of this town decided to build a bridge to avoid having to travel to the main land in boats. The name Primosten means the connection of an island with the dry land.

Some guide books say that Primosten looks better from a distance than it does up close, but this pearl of the Adriatic makes for a very pleasant day-trip, with small shops and typical Dalmatian restaurants awaiting to be discovered. The local Babic red wine is also likely to enhance a visit here.
